Staged Readings in a Bar
Moveable Piece's Staged Readings are similar to full performances but are stripped down to the bare essentials.
- Plays are new or under-produced
- Generally by LA-area playwrights
- Drinks (and bar food) encouraged
- Actors read directly from the script
- No costumes, sets, or props
- Little-to-no choreography/staging
- No reviews by the press
- Full-length scripts only (1-2 hours)
The writer is usually at the reading and still making revisions to the piece. The reading format can be helpful for them to hear the play differently and gauge audience response.
Latecomers may be accommodated depending on the acoustics of the performance space.
We encourage you to check out the readings and hope you'll enjoy the laid back format for discovering new plays, writers, directors and actors.
